HyReCo is built on an open AEM cell platform and a digital twin. The consortium is committed to open science and open access where possible, while balancing this with protection of intellectual property. This page provides access to publications, public deliverables, datasets, software and demonstrator information.

Data & Software (Open Access)
HyReCo follows FAIR data principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). Unless restricted by intellectual property rights, source code, reference implementations, APIs, datasets and documentation will be made available via open repositories such as GitHub and Zenodo and linked from this page.
Open Datasets
Planned open datasets include, for example:
- Performance and degradation data from AEM single cell tests.
- Material characterisation data for membranes, PTL (Ni foam, SS 316L) and BPP/composite materials.
- Operating and monitoring data from the HyReCo 10‑cell stack under various conditions (anonymised where necessary).
Each dataset will be documented with title, description, file formats, repository link (e.g. Zenodo DOI), license and recommended citation.
Models and Software
HyReCo will provide models and code where possible, for example:
- Reduced‑order models for AEM cell electrochemistry and fluid dynamics.
- AI‑based surrogate models and INNs for performance and degradation prediction.
- Digital twin building blocks:
- data acquisition and pre‑processing modules,
- model execution and prediction engines,
- interfaces to control and monitoring systems.
Code will be released under suitable open licenses (e.g. MIT, Apache 2.0 or project‑specific licenses) and documented to facilitate reuse.
Demonstrators
HyReCo Single Cell
The HyReCo single cell is a laboratory AEM cell designed for flexible component testing. It is used to validate new BPP/BPP‑HP, PTL and membrane concepts, to generate high‑quality data for model development and to explore different operating conditions and electrolytes.
HyReCo 10‑Cell AEM Stack
The 10‑cell HyReCo demonstrator stack integrates optimised BPP, PTL, membranes, gaskets and end plates manufactured with high‑rate capable processes. It is operated on professional test benches (e.g. Fraunhofer IWU / IWES) to validate performance and degradation models and to calibrate the digital twin.
The demonstrator serves as an open research platform for partners and hydrogen clusters and can be used as a basis for follow‑up projects and component development.
